A big thank you to all the Diablo Gaels who came out to support St Mary's against CAL!  AWESOME rugby check out the link.  Kyle did Diablo Gaels proud by scoring a try 5 mins to end of game.  St Mary's sent CAL home with a few thoughts perhaps if St Mary's had started as strong as they finished we would have had a different outcome but lessons learnt for next year.  An AWESOME season - Congratulations!!!!

With the huge success of our U24 program both in 2007 and 2008.   We are asking that you encourage your graduating seniors who are either going to Junior College or entering the work force to play rugby with our U23 team.  This is our second season and once again we finished  6 -2.  The team has two coaches from New Zealand which give the players an added skill level continuation from the U19 level.   We want to keep your U19 players in the sport and continue their rugby experience.  Practice is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with our D1 mens. Out of 15's we do participate in 7's.  So keep fit and join our 7's .......  email John for more info

Nigel Owens named as Heineken Cup final referee

8 May 2008

Nigel Owens will referee his first Heineken Cup final when he takes charge of the clash between Munster and Toulouse at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, on Saturday, 24 May (17.00). The leading Welsh official refereed his first semi-final when he was in the middle for Munster's win over Saracens at the Ricoh Arena last month and the final will mean he has not missed a single tournament weekend, controlling a maximum nine Heineken Cup matches this season.
And the added bonus for Owens is that he will be in charge of the match on "home soil," referees rarely able to officiate at major matches played on their own national ground.

Chiefs 32 Reds 20

BARNSTORMING No.8 Sione Lauaki scored a 50-metre intercept try to break the hearts of the Queensland Reds and give the Chiefs a 12-point win in Hamilton last night.Down 24-3 at half-time, the Reds scored three tries in 12 minutes in the second half to trail the home side just 27-20 before Lauaki pounced. He latched onto a Quade Cooper pass, shrugged off attempted tackles by Clinton Schifcofske and James Horwill and raced away to score.

DIABLO GAELS ACTIVELY RECRUITING

Diablo Gaels are actively looking for new blood! Come out and play 7's with us and build for our 15's season.  All new recruits welcome.

Come and keep fit and make friends for life.

"WHEN YOU HAVE EARNED A NICKNAME YOU KNOW YOU'RE IN!"

6:30 PM - Time to get a start on the summer and have some fun.  There will be the usual wait for the soccer crowd to finish.    Call you mates.  PA 7's Tournament & Calgary 7's (DR. Scheriman new home) are on the agenda for this summer.
We need to serious look at the Calgary Team which will go up sometime between July 4 - July 11.  We need at least 10 committed players to put the team together.  Details to follow.  Probably have accommodations covered but players will have to generate tournament fee and air fare.  If we can get $3,000 in sponsors, then we probably have very little out of pocket!   I will organize logistics but sponsors are players responsibility!
